A0
A0 is the largest standard ISO 216 sheet, measuring 841 x 1189 millimeters (33.1 x 46.8 inches) with an area of exactly one square meter -- the reference size the entire A-series is built from. Every smaller A-size is made by repeatedly halving A0 across its longer edge.
A1
A1 paper measures 594 x 841 millimeters (23.4 x 33.1 inches), exactly half the area of A0 and twice the area of A2. It's a common size for architectural and engineering drawings, flip charts, and large presentation posters.
A2
A2 paper measures 420 x 594 millimeters (16.5 x 23.4 inches), a quarter the area of A0. It's a common poster and calendar size, and the sheet size produced by folding A1 in half.
A3
A3 paper measures 297 x 420 millimeters (11.7 x 16.5 inches), exactly double the area of A4 and the sheet size produced by unfolding A4 across its long edge. It's the standard size for spreadsheets, technical drawings, and tabloid-style printing outside North America.
A4
A4 paper measures 210 x 297 millimeters (8.27 x 11.69 inches) with an area of 0.0625 m² (1/16 m²). It is 6mm narrower and 18mm longer than US Letter paper (8.5 x 11 inches).
A5
A5 paper measures 148 x 210 millimeters (5.8 x 8.3 inches), exactly half the area of A4 and a quarter the area of A3. It's a common size for notepads, diaries, flyers, and paperback books.
A6
A6 paper measures 105 x 148 millimeters (4.1 x 5.8 inches), exactly half the area of A5. It's the standard ISO postcard size and a common size for small flyers, index cards, and pocket notebooks.
B5
B5 paper measures 176 x 250 millimeters (6.9 x 9.8 inches), part of the ISO 216 B-series and sized to sit between A4 and A5. It's a very common notebook, diary, and textbook size, especially in Japan and continental Europe.
