GDDR6

Direct Answer

GDDR6, standardized by JEDEC in July 2017 and reaching mass production in early 2018, doubled data rates over GDDR5 to as much as 16-18 Gbit/s per pin -- the current mainstream graphics memory standard for most non-flagship cards.

JEDEC Standard July 2017
Mass Production January 2018
Data Rate Up to 16 Gbit/s per pin (18 Gbit/s in mass-production variants)

From Spec to Shelf in Six Months

JEDEC finalized the GDDR6 standard in July 2017, and mass production began about six months later, in January 2018 -- a fast turnaround that means both dates show up in different sources depending on whether they're citing the standard's ratification or its market arrival. GDDR6 roughly doubled data rates over late-model GDDR5, reaching up to 16 Gbit/s per pin under the base standard and as much as 18 Gbit/s per pin in later mass-production silicon.

GDDR6 remains the mainstream graphics memory standard for the majority of current graphics cards, with the proprietary GDDR6X reserved for a smaller number of flagship products that need even more bandwidth.
